FAQ's
Design
We are a small team working into Byron and therefore only take on a limited amount of custom gowns each year. This process is a design collaboration between Kate Willa and the bride to create something truely special. So although inspiration is important its a must to allow space for your ideas to creatively evolve through out the process. We select gowns that excited our imaginations, push boundaries or are simply beautiful.
Booking Timelines
Gowns vary in the amount of time they need to be designed and created. We open our books a few times a year, but it’s generally recommended you reach out 9 -16 months in advance. We can work on a tighter time frame in some instances so please reach out via our booking form.
Fabrics
We use an extensive range of decadent silks, delicate laces and intricately beaded tulles. All sourced though a few select wholesalers to ensure the highest of quality, across every gown. We also work closely with a beading house and can have your own beaded design created by a family-operated group of artisans in India, that specialise in delicate hand beading. Due to the individual nature of these gowns, these are priced on application.
Pricing & Payments
Our drawings and design process is included in your consult meeting fee of $100. We want to make sure you are completely happy with the design and process before any commitment to go ahead, is made.
Gowns are quoted within the design stage and these costs are all inclusive of all our future meetings, fittings and back and forth correspondence.
Payment of 50% is required upon approving your final design. This confirms your place in our small allocation of bookings for the year. All payments are non-fundable.
What is entailed in the initial design meeting?
Our design meetings can be scheduled in the studio or over the phone. This is a chance for us to discuss all aspects of your gown. You can be as detailed as you like or merely just have a loose brief on what you have in mind. This will be the time we discuss inspo, fabrics, design details, pricing and timelines.
Do I need in house fittings?
All custom gowns require in house fittings. If you’re unable to make it to Byron Bay we suggest exploring our made to order gowns.
Depending on the style of the gown, you may be required for 2 – 5 fittings, but this will be discussed at the design stage along with all the potential dates. We will confirm your dates via email, so you have plenty of time to organise your schedule in advance.
